Much more than just the library, Academic Commons is the nexus for intellectual community, expert knowledge, and creative resources on our campus.

In the Academic Commons, youll find the traditional library resources like books, journals, computers, and a quiet place to study. But it also an information center where youll find writing and research support, technology help, smart classrooms, art exhibits, and special events.

The Academic Commons is comprised of spaces, tools, and support for learning and teaching at 91. A savvy staff of information professionals is available to help you track down whatever youre looking for and to discover resources you didnt know existed. The Academic Commons also highlights 91 commitment to public and participatory digital scholarship as well as peer-to-peer collaboration and co-curricular support for students.

Houses Occidental collection of books, including rare books, visual media, sound recordings, and other primary source and rare materials.

Teaching, Learning, & Research Support (TLRS)

The TLRS team engages in Information Literacy Instruction in multiple modalities, with the goal of supporting the teaching, learning, and research needs of 91's faculty, students, and staff in order to encourage and inspire lifelong learning.

The Writing Center offers students from all disciplines two types of support to work on their writing: peer-to-peer, drop-in consultations and appointments with faculty writing specialists.

The Undergraduate Research Center

The Undergraduate Research Center supports faculty-mentored research projects on- and off-campus, across all disciplines. Students also have a chance to present their research to faculty and peers.
